The Real Department of Veterans Affairs

The whole system is rotten!

Most Veterans apply for benefits and yet never understand how the "System" really works. Many become depressed, and after a few years get fed up, with waiting for their claims to be processed, and simply give up.

That is what President Bush, most of the Senate, and Congress, wants. They WANT to cheat you. This cuts down on the budget of the VA, and helps keep the costs of wars lower.

They want you to give up!

And to this end they have filled positions in the Department of Veterans Affairs with some of the most dishonest, and corrupt, people on earth! And if you are one of the rare veterans, an idealist who is willing to stick it out and fight for the benefits the law says you are entitled to, you will find that the whole system is rotten.

For years Veterans who fought for this country actually lost their First Amendment Right of Access to the Courts, as punishment for their military service. They could not contest the arbitrary, and illegal, conduct of the VA in America's Courts.

In the country that touts itself as being the most democratic country on earth. The land of the free. A country of the people, by the people, and "suppose fully" for the people, Veterans had no rights!

The Veterans Administration was so abusive, so corrupt, and so many thousands of America's Veterans were cheated, abused, and actually driven to their death by the VA, that the public outcry became so loud that a Court of Veterans Appeals was formed, with the pretext of at last giving Veterans their right of Access to Due Process on claims.

It should be noted that criminals in America's prisons actually had Due Process Rights to contest wrongs years before America's Veterans did !

Simply put, if you raped children, robbed banks, and killed people you had a Right of Access to the Courts. If you fought for your country, You did not.

This is the REAL America, controlled by rich kids, and their paid lobbyists. Individuals like President George Bush, who didn't even have to report for his National Guard Service. Was not even in the same state, and was actually hiding in college, and abusing drugs, while the author was in Vietnam defending this country.

The motive behind all this has always been money. Since it is highly unlikely that the rich will actually serve in combat, and it is usually the poor, and working class, that defend America, and shed their blood, the rich kids who stay in control of Washington have slanted the laws, and process, against veterans.

The powerful were faced with a problem. There was a massive public outcry for Veterans to start having rights of Access to a Court, yet they wanted to still cheat veterans, and keep the cost of America's Wars as low as possible.

The solution was the Court of Appeals for Veterans, staffed by judges without morals, deep in the pockets of the Department of Veterans Affairs, who were fully willing to sell-out, and screw America's Veterans.

The Court of Appeals for Veterans is intended to appease the public outcry, and to deceive the public. It was never intended to be honest, and fair, towards Veterans, nor has it been.

It's all a sham. Recently a veteran, Tom Hubbert, filed a petition before the Veterans Court. The VA Office of General Counsel, headed by Tim McClain, a "Bush" Supporter, kept using illegal means, lying, hiding evidence, using any hanky-panky to make a farce of the proceedings, and deny Mr. Hubbert a fair hearing.

The veteran filed a motion merely seeking an Order requiring VA Attorneys to start being honest in the case, or face contempt. An Order any "Honest" Court would want to issue. The Court of Appeals for Veterans refused, stating that it is okay for VA Attorneys to lie.

This is the kind of justice America's Veterans can expect in the Court of Appeals for Veterans.

And the Department of Veterans Affairs itself is rotten to the core. The Department of Veterans Affairs is a political pay off agency. The agency is not intended to care for America's Veterans, as the public is told. That's just American propaganda.

Every political party that is in power uses appointments to high paying positions in the Department of Veterans Affairs as a pay off, or reward, for those who supported them. For example, George Bush appointed Tim McClain to head the Office of General Counsel and some 400 plus attorneys. Tim McClain has never supervised 100 attorneys let alone 400 plus. He is not qualified.

So how did Tim McClain get the job? By being a "Good" Republican and agreeing to help save money in the budget of the VA by cheating American's Veterans.

 This is the same way the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Principal, got his job, and how most of the upper-level management got their positions. And since they are all crooks, who have gotten their jobs by being "team players" in a political party, it is easy to understand how closely they conspire together, and work together, to cover up their crimes against veterans.

Crimes like falsifying VA records to cheat Veterans. This is a common "tactic" of the VA Office of General Counsel. Another slick con game of corrupt VA Officials is to not allow Veterans to bring a tape recorder, or any means to record, or document, what takes place at hearings on their VA claims.

Then when the VA transcribes the tape the VA has a "normal" policy of "leaving out" testimony favorable to the veteran. The so called transcript of the hearing if falsified and made into a pure work of fiction. This is a "normal" procedure at the Saint Petersburg Regional Office.

The corruption goes on, and on, and on.

The Official Policy of the Department of Veterans Affairs is to commit any action to cheat a veteran out of his benefits, no matter how illegal. Anything to keep the budget low, and cut down on the  cost of wars.

In the Saint Petersburg Regional Office alone over 20,000 veterans are victims, waiting for their claims to be processed, while professional con artists, such as the Regional Director, the Service Center Manager, and the Office of General Counsel, tamper with their records to make sure the process is not fair, or honest.

The "Official Policy" set by Secretary Principi is "Do anything to cheat veterans!" Break any law. Commit any crime. Tamper with veterans claim files. Destroy favorable evidence in veterans files. Any crime. Any illegal act is okay with Secretary Principi.

When will we unite? When will we start voting out the politicians who do nothing, and let this abuse of America's Veterans continue?
